Lid fit and finger hole

hard tier · iterate

The requests, in order

1Make a small box with a drop-in lid as two separate sub-parts named exactly `body` and `lid`, both shown in the same view. The body is 60 mm by 40 mm by 30 mm outside with 2 mm walls and a 2 mm floor, open at the top, lying in the XY plane with Z up, centred on the origin in X and Y and with its bottom face on Z = 0 — so the opening measures 56 mm by 36 mm. The lid is a plain rectangular plug 5 mm thick that drops into that opening with its top face flush with the body's rim at Z = 30, sized for a 0.2 mm clearance on every side (55.6 mm by 35.6 mm) so it is a friction fit. Model the lid in that installed position, and do not let the two sub-parts intersect.
2Make the lid a loose slip fit instead: widen the clearance to 0.6 mm on every side. Change nothing else.
3Add an 8 mm diameter finger hole straight down through the middle of the lid so it can be lifted out. Keep the fit and the body exactly as they are.

What the AI judge checks

  • The lid sits down inside the box's opening rather than over the outside of it
  • The lid is a plain rectangular block with no lip, rib, step or chamfer on it
  • The finger hole is a clean round hole straight through the lid, not a slot or a cone-shaped recess
  • The box's walls look the same thickness all the way round its opening
  • No other features on either piece

Measured checks

  • exactly two sub-parts named body and lid (gate)
  • both sub-parts are solid (gate)
  • body still 60 × 40 × 30 and hollow (gate)
  • lid is the 0.2 mm friction-fit plug: 55.6 × 35.6 × 5
  • exactly two sub-parts named body and lid (gate)
  • both sub-parts are solid (gate)
  • body still 60 × 40 × 30 and hollow (gate)
  • lid is the 0.6 mm slip-fit plug: 54.8 × 34.8 × 5
  • exactly two sub-parts named body and lid (gate)
  • both sub-parts are solid (gate)
  • body still 60 × 40 × 30 and hollow (gate)
  • lid is the 0.6 mm slip-fit plug: 54.8 × 34.8 × 5 (gate)
  • lid has one through-hole (gate)
  • finger hole is 8 mm
